Welcome to my world and thank you for visiting the online shop for 'Tea Party at the Zoo'
My name is Hannah, and I am the chief zoo keeper and designer at 'Tea Party at the Zoo', which was born whilst studying Textiles at Manchester School of Art. Originally from Cardiff, I stayed up north and settled into the Marketplace Studios, Stockport upon graduating in 2014.
'Tea Party at the Zoo' combines a number of things I love; fashion, illustration, alarmingly bright colours, vintage influences and animals.
Many of my designs have been inspired by animals I have photographed at Chester Zoo and galleries of animal life at various museums across the UK. Each design is lovingly drawn by hand before being digitally manipulated and laser cut onto colourful Perspex. I then use my motifs to make jewellery or sand them down to make novelty combs.
Vintage fashion influences inspire my work, particularly the flamboyancy of the sixties. Fashion accessories worn by icons such as Iris Apfel and Twiggy during the 1960's, inspire me to create my own contemporary, but affordable statement jewellery. My pieces are wearable art that can be worn on a daily basis. Some pieces are quite large but each design is carefully drawn to compliment and adorn the body.
I currently sell my work online, regional craft fairs and independent gift shops and galleries across the UK.
I love staying in touch with my customers and stockists, joining craft networks, attending workshops/events and collaborating with other creative folk so please feel free to get in touch via the contact form or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
